Book Giveaway and Radio Appearance

Hi there,

I wanted to let you know about something I’m doing soon…

I am going to appear on ‘A WOMAN’S SPIRIT’ — the radio show, click on ‘Listen Online, Live Streaming Radio.’  It is an empowering, enriching 1-hour program, for women. Men are welcome too. Briefly, let me describe the show. It is a laid back, quiet space, located smack dab in the middle of a week that sometimes consists of chaos. You get the picture…this show is something you need, an experience you can use to re-charge. I must tell you, the show’s host, Ms. Vanecia Wills-Leufroy has the most lovely cadence to her voice. I often listen to her while I write. Her rich deep vocal tones  remind me of cacao and cream, or of the jazz diva Sarah Vaughn’s extraordinary singing voice, and this host connects with her audience. She feels them, and they her! I like that. Check out the show and you just might agree. Oh, and trust me to liken anything — even a person’s voice — to food!

However, to get back on track, on ‘A WOMAN’S SPIRIT’ we will host a two-book giveaway for my latest novel.

A deliciously frustrating and exhilarating love story.

It is called Turnabout

For those of you who don’t know, Turnabout is a love story, but it is not just about the lovers. Their family, friends, and even those whom only a mama can love, are all entwined in this must-read.

The date of my appearance is

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The lovely thing about this show is you may listen from your laptop or computer!

Click here to go to the Radio Show.

Or you may tune in online:  www.radiosandysprings.com/showpages/womansspirit.php

Don’t forget, it’s next week: Wednesday September 1, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

As I said, I will discuss my latest novel. I will also explain to listeners how I found ‘my voice’ — my reason for writing.  Then two lucky winners will win their own signed copy of my book!

This particular episode of ‘A WOMAN’S SPIRIT’ is also slated to be re-broadcast, and will be available for you to listen to in the radio show’s archives.  www.radiosandysprings.com/showpages/womansspirit.php

I want you to listen. I’d like that. I also want you to enter the contest — not because I’ll get anything out of it … but wouldn’t it be great if you won?!

Don’t forget, join us for a bit of cacao, cream, and meaningful chit-chat. You’re gonna love it!

More about my ‘Cohort Trilogy’

2nd in The Cohort Trilogy

Last time we ‘met,’ I was telling you about my novel Progression, which is the second install in The Cohort Trilogy. In this particular book a question is answered…

But first a little background to catch us up. In the first book, called Absolution, as some of you know, our gay male character, Beau, was betrayed, by one of his female cohorts. Girlfriend did this by by cavorting with Beau’s man, but what I didn’t get a chance to tell you last time was that girlfriend  had a secret. It was something that would surely add to the drama that the cohorts were already experiencing…if the secret got out. I can’t tell you what it is. You’ll have to read the first novel, Absolution to find that out. However, I can tell you one thing… the secret is not good.

Therefore, in Progression, the second book, readers find out the culmination of ‘the secret’ – that is, if it got out. LOL

In Progression, readers also get to meet our lovely gay Beau’s mother. This woman was out of his life for a good while. Again, you’ll have to read the first book to find out why; but now she’s back. She has also gotten ‘involved’ with the very wrong person. Mama Dearest – not her name — has become entangled with Beau’s ex, the skanky red-haired Sandal!

Can any good come of this union? Again, you’ll have to read to find out. You will also need  to read Progression, the sequel, in order to see the other ways in which our cohorts may or may not have progressed. In the second  novel, there is laughter, sometimes it may just pop out of you. (As a writer, I am actually that good, and I’m not being braggadocious—just real.) Also readers, you’ll  note that that there is an emotional element as well. Those who have read it, have called Progression an emotional ride. I however, have likened this tale to a roller coaster, because it has ups and downs, and twists and turns. Readers seemingly get jerked around, just like on a real roller coaster, as we zoom up one hill, only to plummet down another! I feel it’s all part of the flava, and it keeps readers wanting more, it keeps them desiring to turn pages.

One woman told me that she stayed up all night trying to find out what would happen, although she needed to be up early the next day for work. I was pleased that she was so interested, because it is my endeavor to create books that pique the curiosity. Although I want to entertain, I also try to write books that make readers think, and that is what I am endeavoring to do now, as I work on the third book in The Cohort Trilogy — the book that I wanted to tell you about.

It is called Iniquities, and this novel happens to focus on our lovely gay hunk Beau; it depicts more about his life than the first two books combined. ‘Iniquities’ gives us an in-depth look at Beau. We get to see him at work, at play, and in love, or lust – whichever he chooses. We see his memories and become privy to his innermost thoughts. Plain and simply put, in Iniquities we find ourselves in Beau’s world. This novel is steamy in places and other areas just may cause readers to hold their breath…

But I’ll tell you more about it. You know I will. Just meet me back here, real soon; and remember. If your day isn’t going well, simply decide to start it again. Find your ‘calm place,’ then ask for Wisdom. She will show up, and then you’ll be off again– doing your thing!

Things I want To Discuss

Okay, last time, I mentioned having a few things I wanted to discuss with you. Well one of those things is…my latest novel Turnabout. It is now on Amazon kindle, and it’s available on Kindle UK! I’m stoked.

A deliciously frustrating and exhilarating love story.

The other thing I wanted to tell you about is a book I’m writing. I happen to be working on the third book in The Cohort Trilogy. For those of you who need catching up, this trilogy is about four friends, a sexy hunk of a gay male and his three women friends. In the first install of the trilogy, readers get to meet the foursome. Readers also get to see that the friends who call themselves ‘cohorts’ –because they are like partners in crime– believe their friendship is perfect, or darn near.

However, their thing starts to unravel—with a betrayal. Isn’t that always how it begins? One of the women cavorts with the gay male’s love interest — his man. Oh, our male cohort’s name is Beau. Well, you know drama follows… You’ve got to pick up this novel. The name is Absolution, and it is available online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.

1st in The Cohort Trilogy by April Alisa Marquette

Absolution is also available in stores, ask them to order it if you don’t see it. Store staffers will gladly do so and let you know when this juicy  book comes in.

Now, to tell you—briefly, about the second novel in The Cohort Trilogy, it is called Progression. And as the name suggests, in this the sequel, readers get to see how the cohorts have progressed. We get to see if they are any wiser, since they’ve grown older. Also shown are others who were in the background of the prior novel, Absolution. However, in Progression, the second install, there are some characters! Our gay male hunk has another man this go ‘round. Beau’s new jump-off’s name is Sandal, and what a red-haired queen Sandal is! Readers just may want to strangle him, while others may laugh out loud at his antics.

2nd in The Cohort Trilogy

You know what? I can’t even tell you about the third novel in The Cohort Trilogy, not yet, because there is more that I need to tell you about Progression

I gotta go put a load of laundry in though, since I didn’t do it earlier in the week. However, you know the drill. I’ll get back with you. We’ll pick up right here. Stay tuned… because as I said, I’ve I got stuff to tell you.

Shout out to Tam! Hey lady.

My latest Novel

Hi there! I want to tell you what I’m excited about now — My novel TURNABOUT. It’s adult fiction, a romance. Now I’ve got to tell you, this story is more a traditional love story, for me anyway, because my readers know that traditional is not what I do. I’m not that kind of lady. I can’t seem to wrap my mind around traditional or conventional… go figure.

Anyway, this love story is not traditional in that it involves family, friends, and even foes. Oh but it’s good!! It’s fun, titillating, erotic, witty, thought-provoking… It’s many things, and it may even bring you to tears.

Let me give you a little background. TURNABOUT is Abigail’s story. She’s a smart, sensual, savvy, business woman. She is JaMerican –Jamaican and American– and boy does MaMa have a temper!

It’s also Joseph’s story too. He happens to be a successful pop music producer who is attractive in a rugged sort of way. You met both him and Abigail in Absolution 🙂 Think about it. Anyway, Joseph wants more from Abigail than he often gets. Is that because her ex, a real pain in the… you know what is always around? Or is it because there is always someone else getting in the way?

I’ve got to tell you. I am excited about the release of  TURNABOUT. It’ll be available at the end of March 2010, or maybe a little before. I’ll let you know. Anyway, I need you to get your copy so that you can let me know what you think. I’ll tell you, sometimes we send out promotional copies before they’re fully released and the feedback’s been great!

Well gotta run, gotta write, but also note. TURNABOUT will soon also be available on Amazon KINDLE.

Happy Reading, and remember, if you’re an adult who likes good fiction, if you’re a woman who loves a great read, then I write for you!!

Now Available on AMAZON KINDLE…

My novel ABSOLUTION is now available on Amazon Kindle!!

First in the Cohort Trilogy, this book will have you reading all night. You’ll want to find out about the foursome who live together. The three women and Beau, a gay male, also think their friendship is perfect. That is, until things start to unravel… beginning with Ronni, the all female hottie’s betrayal of Beau.

Why — oh why does she cavort with his man? And why are the remaining Cohorts forced to choose sides, when drama ensues? Ahhh, you’re gonna love it. That’s all I can say. It’s witty, sexy, and thought-provoking. It’s been called an all night read– but don’t let me put words in your mouth.

Download it today at Amazon. Then you can tell me what you think. I’d love to hear from you!

Getting Through EXODUS

So a little bit ago I told you that in my sometimes surreal novel EXODUS, the main character, sultry Aqua feels as if her world is topsy-turvy. I mentioned that she is on the eerie island that she was warned not to go to. She is there with the Latin hunk she met while working for the man with whom she was involved. So why, you might ask, is she out in the back of beyond with Noel, Mr. Sexy. My answer, because she wanted to be. Yes, despite the heinous things going on. However, now that Aqua is asking questions…all hell has broken loose.

A thrilling Mystery by April Alisa Marquette

Someone, or something, desires to take Aqua’s life. When you read the book you will see the instances where this entity attempts to dispose of her. I am truly hoping it will give you pause, maybe even a few chills. It is what I was striving for.

Anyway, the dashing Noel, and those surrounding him, and Aqua, are fast running out of options.  Therefore, at someone’s suggestion, Noel calls for outside help.

You know how you try to try to handle a problem, but then finally you just have to throw up your proverbial hands? Well that’s where Noel found himself. It was then that he decided to reach out, and quickly too—

Will you look at the time? I’ve got to go, but I’ll see you back in a bit. You know the drill 😉

And in the meantime, enjoy whatever it  is you’re reading!

Available at Amazon.com or ask for it at Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million bookstores!

Exodus, And It’s Sequel

I need to tell you about a book I wrote. It’s called EXODUS and it is a mystery that hints at the supernatural. The reason I need to tell you about this book is because in time I want to tell you about another. You see, EXODUS is the first in the Sea Isles Series, a trilogy and I’d like to tell you about the second book, the sequel.

However, first I must give you some background on EXODUS. I need to, so that when I tell you about the sequel, you’ll be able to keep up. Now EXODUS (available at Amazon.com) is about a sultry woman who, like some women, would like to get married. Her name is Aqua–you’ll need to read the story to find out why–and she has  been involved for years with the owner of a posh supper club. This man, Dyson, does not want marriage. Yet he proposes–that Aqua should fill in at his club, for his absentee hostess.

Well! Doesn’t that just beat all? Anyway, Aqua is insulted. Yet after a bit she is compelled to ‘help Dyson out.’  And in doing so, she winds up meeting another… Latin businessman Noel cannot keep his eyes from straying, time and again, back to Aqua. Believing she is actually the supper club’s hostess, he converses with her. Unbeknown, Dyson is in his office, watching the exchange on one of many monitors.

Now, I’m giving you facts on this story, so I can eventually get around to letting you know about the sequel that I happen to be excited about. It will be released this year. I will tell you more about EXODUS, to get you up to speed, but never fear, I will only give you so much. And I have to tell you, if you don’t check it out, you will simply have missed one great read!

To finish what we’ve started, I’ll have to get back with you–I’ve gotta run. Therefore, stay tuned my friends. Enjoy the rest of your day and I’ll see you back in a while.

Soon to be released…

I am excited about a book I’ve written. It will be released before summer 2010. As the time approaches I will let you know. However, right now I just want to tell you a little bit about it. The name of the book is Turnabout. It is adult fiction as is most of what I write. Unlike prior works however, this novel is more a traditional romance. But then again, I can’t even say that, because nothing I write is traditional.

So let’s just get to the premise. There is a woman, sexy, savvy–as are most of my female lead characters. This particular one happens to take care of everyone in her circle of family and friends. She is the one they all turn to when in need of comfort, a listening ear, whatever. Well our lady finds herself with a dilemma. Therefore while writing that in, I had to ask: who should she turn to when in need of comfort and a listening ear?

Light bulb over my head! I began to write in a rugged male lead. Had to then give him a job, and purpose in life; so I did this. I tweaked and fiddled with the type of person our lady would need him to be, and I came up with Joseph. Ladies, I believe you’re going to like him. Hear me now…  I did not make him perfect. You know that truly unreal man that we often see in novels? Well no, he’s not that guy. Our guy is flawed, because isn’t that how people are in real life? I’ve gotta make art mirror life, so this man has his own issues, as does our lady–whose name is Abigail.

Enter another man. This one is a mess! He may or may not be likable. You the reader get to decide. He’s the bad-boy, the smooth, suave, basically soulless character that we all have met. You know I had to let him get in the mix and cause trouble for Abigail and Joseph. The trick though, was to write in how they would handle him, and the trouble.  Since I’ve got to run right now, I’ll just tell you that it’s a whole heap of fun–and tears. Anyone who reads me knows I’ve got to bring the tears–the emotion.  With this novel, I can say that I’ve given it my all. It’s what I try to do, always. Nothing worse than reading something that barely scratches the surface of human emotions.

I’ll tell you more about it, when and where you can get it, and other things. I’ll do that in days to come, but just think about it. You just may want to pick it up! Amazon.com

Make today a good one.
